Description

An Upholsterer is responsible for restoring, repairing, and revamping furniture pieces by reupholstering them. They work with various kinds of materials, including leather, fabric, and vinyl, and use specialized tools to create seamless finishes. Upholsterers can work in various settings, including residential and commercial, and may be required to travel to different locations for their job.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect furniture pieces to assess the condition of the current upholstery
  • Measure and cut fabrics or leather to fit furniture pieces exactly
  • Remove old upholstery and padding, using hand tools and other engineering methods
  • Replace padding and cushions with new material, such as foam or cotton
  • Install new upholstery using stitching, tacks, or adhesives
  • Make repairs or corrections to furniture pieces as needed
  • Perform maintenance or cleaning of upholstery as needed

Requirements
